An adjective is a word you use to describe something. So the hippo below could be described as big, grey, happy, and heavy.
How to describe animals – what describing words would you use?
Look at the picture of the lion on Animal Describing Words on the worksheet.
o What great words could we use to describe the lion? Share ideas:
golden, big, scary, fierce, sleepy, shaggy, etc. Record some of these
words in the boxes below the lion.
o Now do the same thing for the snake, the pelican and the bat.
Describing animals game.
Let’s do the animal dance – look at how different animals like to dance. Can you dance along with the animals? Which of the animals do you like best? What words would you use to describe the different animals?
Look at the poem in a muddle – can you put the poem back into the right order and then copy out the poem neatly?
